The Quick Response Service (QRS) unit recently passed the licensure inspection without fault. Squad 48 is now re-certified as a QRS until 01/01/2022 when the inspection process begins again. The licensure process occurs every three years to ensure the high quality, certified personnel and updated equipment on the QRS unit. The process starts at the company level. The EMS coordinators have access to a "must-have" list to pass the inspection done by the Chester County Emergency Services staff. The list includes everything from the Squad's registration to portable suction units to the minimum number of gauze we must have. In order to re-certify the QRS, the company had to go through all of the equipment and supplies in the squad to make sure that it is not expired and completely stocked. After the initial inspection of the equipment's functionality and quantities, the county looks at the certifications of the fire company's members - including: EMT-B, Paramedic, PHRN, EMSVO, & EVOC.

Even though the process is every three years, the QRS unit is checked on a weekly basis to maintain the appropriate amount of supplies and ensure functionality of equipment (Suction, O2, AED). This check is done by our EMS volunteers. Over the past year, the fire company has had many members go through the EMT training and certification process. At this time, the company has 11 state certified EMT's and 7 additional members working on the testing and certification process.
